About School of Airborne Units And Special Security Forces

The Command of the Armed Forces in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is attaching ample attention to the training of Army personnel on the latest combat skills to keep them always ready to defend their homeland any time. In this connection, the Center and School of the Paratroopers and Special Security Forces is recognized as a largely important educational edifice which has an important logistic role in training and qualifying the Army personnel to carry out high risk mission on the battle ground with extremely high accuracy.

After many historical phases of development, the Center and School of the Paratroopers and Special Security Forces evolved into an effective, advanced and up to date institution operating on equal footing with international military schools thanks to a fairly long history which began 57 years ago. Authors who wrote on the military history of modern Saudi Arabia have  told that there were only three officers trained to do parachuting with the air rescue team at Dhahran Airport before 1374H which marked an important turning point in the history of the Paratroopers Center. Senior Commanders of the Armed Forces had established the Parachuting School in Jeddah which celebrated the graduation of the first ever batch of paratroopers in Dhul Qaida 1374H. Saudi Army Paratroopers made their first appearance when they paraded with other units of the Armed Forces on Army Day on 17/12/1374H.

Due to the increased importance of the School of Parachuting and the new duties added to its mission, it was renamed to become the Center and School of Paratroopers and Special Security Forces. A new logo was also designed to fit the new tasks added to the Center’s mission. After the new name was adopted the role of the Center and School was expanded with the addition of new training courses.
